John and I were contacted via phone and email the other day by a Casting Director with ABC television. She is looking to feature doll collecting families in an upcoming episode of the reality TV show, Wife Swap (it runs on Monday nights.). I'm a Casting Director with ABC Television and we're looking to feature DOLL COLLECTING families for an upcoming show! I came across your website/organization and thought your members/readers may be great. I hope to spread the word and see if anyone is interested in this process.

We're currently casting for ABC's hit family show, 'Wife Swap!' Please don't be confused by the title - 'Wife Swap' is a family show on ABC primetime. The premise is simple: two moms from two very different families get the opportunity to swap lives (but not bedrooms - everyone has their own!) for a week to experience what it's like to live a different lifestyle - and to see what they can teach each other about their own!

All featured families will receive a $20,000 financial honorarium as a thank-you for their time! We are looking for two parent families with children (between the ages of 5 and 18) who are ready for an adventure! I look forward to hearing from you soon, so we can talk in detail about this show! Below is a sample posting of the type of families we’re looking for.

Do you enjoy collecting dolls and exploring your inner child? Do you love to do this with your family? Do you frequent doll shows or events? Do you spend most of your free time collecting? Do you have a large Doll Collection? Could you have your own TV show? If this is you, you could be on Wife Swap. The premise of Wife Swap is that one parent from each household swaps places for a week to experience how another family runs their lives. *** Price changes and discrepancies - Charisma recently raised pricing on a number of tiny tots from $39.95 to $44.95 or $49.95.  They also had some price changes on other August & October dolls as well.  This new pricing is reflected in the Fall 2006 catalog.

For the tiny tots, many retailers were originally told or assumed that retail pricing would be $39.95 for these dolls and listed those prices accordingly. Charisma has said that it is okay for retailers to honor their original price quotes, however they want customers to know that they are getting a discount.  For many of the more intricate dolls, Charisma has implied that the price for tiny tots will be going up in the future.  We are honoring our original lower priced website quotes for those who pre-ordered but are adjusting Bonus Beans because our cost to purchase the dolls will now be greater.   We will also price-match other retailers who may be offering the original lower prices. If you have any questions, please let us know.

*** We are back from Las Vegas and doing our best to catch up on emails, phone calls and orders!  Our trip to meet with Marie Osmond and Charisma Brands at the Ritz Carlton in Lake Las Vegas was absolutely wonderful and was a real family affair.  Ryan, Justin, John and I all attended. The IDEX Doll & Bear Show at the Rio in Las Vegas was a lot of fun too.  We will be creating a separate webpage with news about our trip and hope to have the posted within the next week or two.

In the meantime, here are a few tidbits!  We got to see both the August and October dolls for the Marie Osmond line.  There are lots of treasures coming! 

The Adora Belle IDEX Exclusive is named Adora Belle Just Peachy.  She retails for $119.95. (She was initially estimated at $89.95 but because she is porcelain and very limited, Charisma revised her pricepoint. She is limited to just 500 pieces and only to customers of retailers who purchased her at IDEX.  We have Adora Belle Just Peachy available for pre-order here.

We have been told that Hershey's Merry Kisses *MAY* be coming back into stock this Fall.  It was an extremely popular doll in late 2005 but only a fraction of the original production run was ever produced due to some fabric issues during the manufacturing process.  Charisma will not guarantee that they're bringing this doll back but if the demand is high enough, they might do so.   They have told us it is okay to go ahead and accept pre-orders so we have placed a deposit button for this doll again on our website.  If it turns out the doll is not produced, we will be happy to transfer or refund your deposit.

Pre-Order Hershey's Merry Kisses now with a $10.00 deposit.

Charisma is oversold by over 200 for the Teddy Bear Tea Party so we are not expecting to get any extra dolls in beyond our initial allocation. (If you ordered your doll on 4/15 or prior, you should get your doll as long as Charisma fulfills our entire original order.  This is something they promised us so we don't anticipate any problems.)  As mentioned previously, we did allocate 2 dolls for our eBay auction customers and will announce when those are going up for auction after the dolls arrive.

As of today, Teddy Bear Tea Party is currently sold out for pre-orders from Count Your Beans, however we have allocated 2 dolls for listing at eBay and will be taking a waiting list.  Customers who pre-ordered this doll on 4/15 or prior HAVE been allocated a doll from our Charisma Brands order and as long as Charisma Brands fills our entire initial order (which they have promised they would), everyone who ordered is guaranteed a doll.   

For waiting list orders placed on 4/16 or afterwards, we will not be taking a deposit at this time because we cannot guarantee fulfillment for orders after this time.   As mentioned above, we have allocated 2 dolls for listing at eBay to service our eBay customers who do not normally order from our website.  If we get any extra dolls, they will be allocated straight to the website waiting list orders. My Friend has just arrived!   The 15th Anniversary Book has just come in too!  Wow, is it neat!  We were surprised to see a photo of ourselves on page 180 during Marie's Star Retailer Event in Las Vegas last year.  How fun!  As there are quite a few pre-orders, we are doing our best to contact everyone via email in the order in which your pre-order was placed.  Orders already paid in full will ship on Friday.  We do have extras too!

Good news! The first run of My Friend Toddler and Tiny Tot and the 15th Anniversary book have arrived at Charisma Brands and will start shipping to retailers on Monday, February 27th.  When speaking with our sales rep yesterday, she was still unsure how many dolls we would be receiving in our first order because the first order was oversold at Charisma Brands and will be allocated among retailers.  After the dolls ship on Monday, we will have a better idea and will be able to contact customers and let them know what shipping run their doll will be in.  On the positive side, she does think that we will be getting quite a few of our ordered dolls so we are thinking optimistically!

We have updated most of our alphabetical pages and are having some great Winter Sales going on right now!  Many dolls are currently on re-order so if you see something sold out, please don't hesitate to pre-order for our next shipment.  We will be having a lot of dollies coming back into stock in March.

My Friend Toddler & Tiny Tot Update! - This doll has been selling extremely quickly and we want to give everyone an update as there have been different rumors floating around about her availability.  We received an email today from the Sales Director at Charisma Brands who said that Count YourBeans would be getting our full order of Marie Osmond My Friend Toddler and Tiny Tots.  (We have placed a lot on order but do have some available for pre-order!)

Because of the great demand, Charisma Brands is breaking them down into two shipments to start out with.  The first shipment is due to arrive at the end of February, beginning of March timeframe and the second shipment is due to arrive at the end of April.  Our rep was not sure how many dolls we would get in our first shipment and how many in our second but generally with really large orders of popular dolls, Charisma ships them on an allocation basis where each retailer gets a percentage of his/her overall order.  She did say that we would get all the dolls we ordered so everyone who has ordered thus far will receive a doll set from either the first or second run.

Shipment allocation to retailers is also based on when the initial order and add-on orders were placed.  We placed an initial order quite early and did an add-on order later.  We would guess at this point that orders placed in mid-February and afterwards would be part of the late April shipment, however until we actually see our physical stock come in, we won't know for sure.  We assign an order # to each pre-order that is placed and fill shipments in the order in which the deposit was received.

Charisma Brands does expect this doll's edition to sell out.  It was NOT sold out as of 2/18/06, however the first shipment was.  There are still dolls available in Charisma's second shipping run according to our Sales Director. 

So if you are interested and have not ordered her yet, you may wish to do so as soon as possible!  We will fill orders by timestamp in the order received and all that is required for deposit is $10.00.   We are giving away the 15th Anniversary Book for FREE with your order or if you already have this book, you may choose 200 Bonus Beans as an alternative option.   As always, we offer FREE UPS Ground/Insured delivery in the continental USA on all shipped orders of $50 or greater and we offer shipping credit charges to those shipping USPS domestically or internationally.

We hope this information helps alleviate any confusion or concern.  If you wish to know where you are on our ordering list, please go ahead and give John or Karen an email at countyourbeans@aol.com.  We hope to hear back from our rep on Monday with an estimate as to how many dolls she thinks we'll be getting in our first order and how many will be coming in the second.  

If you ordered early and ordered this doll for layaway, please let us know if it's okay if your doll may be placed in the second shipment. 

Again, we were assured in writing that we would get all the dolls we ordered.  If this information changes, we will let each customer know as soon as possible as our most important goal is to make sure that each collector who wants this doll is able to get her!

We just returned from the San Francisco International Gift Fair and boy, was it fun!  Of course, being 5 months along now, I ended up being a little more tired than expected at the end of the day but it was worth it too see all the great new dolls, bears and gift lines. 

Charisma Brands was there and we got to see some of the new Artista Vinyl Dolls as well as the Candy Fashion,  Lulla-My-Baby and Kewpie lines too.  A lot of the Artista dolls have already sold out from Charisma but we do have our order in and recommend pre-orders, especially for Winter Wonder & Timeless Treasure.

All four complementary lines seem to be very well received and if you haven't yet seen the February 2006 issue of Doll Reader, just check out Charisma's promotion on the new LIPSTIK Dolls!  Too cute, especially if you have a daughter or granddaughter who likes fashion!  Remember, we offer Bonus Beans on all these doll lines and FREE UPS Grd/Ins S/H in the continental USA on any order of $50 or greater when $50 or more of merchandise ships together.

Congrats to Marie and Charisma for her IDEX Dolls Award of Excellence Nomination for Rain Dropper!  We think Michelle said that Strawberry Kewpie-Licious got a nomination too but we'll confirm that as John and I had lots of information trying to be processed at the same time!

We have updated our website today at 1:15 a.m. PST to include QVC Price Matching offers on the new dolls.  There may still be changes that we don't know about and once we do, we'll make them.  We are currently offer 2 Options on each doll with a Price Match, either a lower price with lower Bonus Beans or the Suggested Retail Price with Higher Bonus Beans.  If you're collecting the Bonus Beans for Store Credit, you might prefer the higher BB.  If you're making a one-time purchase or aren't collecting the beans, the lower pricing may appeal to you instead.

eBay News Update:  We are still getting dozens of emails asking why we are no longer running $.01 No Reserve auctions for Marie Osmond dolls at eBay.  We know how popular these auctions were and are sorry to say that Charisma Brands policy has changed regarding this.  (We're still running .01 NR auctions on other lines though!)

As you may or may not have read in previous Count Your Beans news, Charisma Brands changed their policies in late December 2005 regarding auction listings for older dolls at eBay.  Charisma Brands Authorized Dealers are no longer allowed to start No Reserve auctions on older Marie Osmond Dolls (dolls older than 6 months in the marketplace) below specific pricepoint ranges.

In most cases, older tiny tots can start in NO RESERVE listings around $13.95, older Adora Belles and medium dolls can start around $27.95 and older toddlers and large dolls can start around the $49.95 - $69.95 price range.   We are allowed to run .01 auctions with a RESERVE (using the previously mentioned pricepoints as approximate reserve ranges) but as the feedback from most of our customers about Reserve auctions has been lukewarm and they are more expensive, we are going to experiment with a number of auction styles to accommodate the needs of all our collecting friends.   The problem with starting auctions at this pricing (i.e. $13.95, $27.95, $49.95) is that it confuses collectors as to what the perceived value of the doll really is and what is the real market value.  With .01 NR or $1.00 NR collectors realize that the final price is what the market will bear because it's obvious that a seller does not intend for the auction to close so low.  When a doll starts at a strange amount, buyers often assume that is the current value of the doll or what a seller would be happy with getting.  Right now we are doing our best to try and meet customer needs as well as helping to retain the integrity and value of the Marie Osmond doll line.  We will continue to run No Reserve, Buy It Now & eBay Store listings. We will experiment with Reserve Listings and will be including more Make An Offer / Best Offer options. 

The Charisma Brands non-discount policy regarding new dolls (newer than 6 months in the marketplace) has remained the same both at eBay and on Authorized Retailer Websites. The policy is that unless Charisma Brands has authorized a special promotion/discount on a specific doll or allows a QVC Price Match, a New Release Marie Osmond doll that is newer than 6 months in the marketplace cannot be discounted.  This policy has been in effect for a few years. Unfortunately Charisma has discovered that there are a number of supposedly authorized sellers that are regularly not adhering to their previous pricing policies, therefore prompting the new changes regarding pricing for older dolls as well.  It's been difficult for them to monitor but we have been told that website and auction sellers that continue to violate policy will not have product shipped to them and may have their accounts terminated. (A number were terminated last year and our understanding is that others are currently under review.)   As of today, we have been informed there are still a lot of sellers that are continuing to violate policy and we know that Charisma Brands appreciates your patience as they work hard to help collectors regain, maintain and retain the integrity and value of their collectible dolls.

Incoming mail has seemed to be slow for the past week, both First Class & Priority.  We have noticed that mail from the East Coast is sometimes taking over a week for arrival, especially mail in envelopes smaller than #10.  If you have mailed a payment but have not heard from us, it means that unfortunately it has not yet arrived.  When in town, we do our best to confirm mailed payments within 1 business day of receipt. We did have a few questions about pricing and donations on this doll. For those who asked, the suggested retail price was supposed to be $79.95 but some noticed that QVC was charging $98.50 with a "special intro" of $89.38 + $6.72 S/H.  To the very best of our knowledge, the extra money charged by QVC is part of QVC proceeds and is not part of Marie's proceeds.  The same amount in theory would be donated if you buy at Retail for $79.95.  (We also offer Free S/H)  We hope this clears up any confusion.

During times of tragedy, it is easy to feel helpless, saddened, confused, frightened and a whole range of other emotions.   As so many of you, we have asked ourselves over the past few days what we can do to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.  It has always been our company philosophy to donate a percentage of our profits to charities which help support children but it has always seemed that no matter what we give, it never feels like enough. This recent catastrophe has helped emphasize the point to us that no matter what our age, we are all someone's children and are all family.

We just updated the inventory on our website and have also listed many new dolls at eBay.  We also are now going to be running regular auctions to help benefit the Children's Miracle Network, the charity that Marie Osmond helped to found. The listings that have a portion donated automatically to charity can be found by looking for the blue & yellow ribbon symbol next to the auction title. 

As an example, currently we have Shao Mei, M'Lissa Virginia Trio Tiny Tots, Sophia Brenn Doll & Salty Dolly & Kissy and Huggs Mistle Ho Ho Ho all as auctions with 15 - 25% of the final bid automatically going to charity.  We pay this directly ourselves through the eBay Giving Works program so there is no additional administration on the end of the buyer.  Each auction that successfully closes gets a minimum $10 donation no matter what the final price.  To make the auctions fun, we started most of the dolls at $.01 with No Reserve -- a great deal, considering the values of the items listed are between $110 - $200 each!  We also put a few for instant purchase in case you want to purchase now and don't want to worry about being outbid.  Check out listings in our eBay store!

We received a message from Charisma Brands today that the container of Holly Dolls that they had thought they had received last week was really a container full of Daisy dolls. (The overseas manufacturer sent them Daisy instead of Holly by accident.)  As such, unfortunately they will not be able to fill any retailer's Holly Babies A Bloom orders for Christmas and this means unfortunately, that we will not be able to fill these orders either.

We are so very sorry about this.   We just found out today and will be also personally contacting everyone who placed a pre-order with us for this doll to see if you want a full refund or a balance transfer of your deposit to another doll.  Charisma Brands does expect this doll in to them in the beginning of January, so if you'd still like her, we're happy to hold your deposit for you.

We were told by Charisma Brands that their warehouse has been very backed up with shipping holiday orders.  The dolls which we were told had been shipped to us on Wednesday, December 8th were unfortunately delayed until shipping on December 10th.  (We did have tracking #s sent to us and the dolls are now due in by the end of business day on December 14th.  Those who have prepaid in full will have their orders ship either the 14th (if the dolls come in early enough) or the 15th.

We are currently out of the office through Sunday, November 28th but will be back again shipping on the 29th and 30th.

It has been busy here in dolly land!  Dolls have arrived and more are on the way!  We are trying to ship as quickly as possible and often can turn around orders the next business day, however now that we are in our busy holiday season, please allow a 2 - 3 business day turnaround time (M - F) from time of payment before your order is shipped.

Please note that we have a heavier shipping schedule now that we are near the holidays but are pleased to say that all doll orders that are prepaid in full should ship Wednesday the 17th through Friday the 19th. We will be closed for shipping from Monday, November 22nd - Friday, November 26th so all orders that are paid between November 19th - November 28th will ship on Monday, November 29th or Tuesday, November 30th.  If you want your order to ship before we close for Thanksgiving break, your payment MUST be received in our office by Thursday, November 18th.  Please note that UPS Ground will not be delivering on Thursday, November 25th (Thanksgiving) & Friday, November 26th so please don't count these as "business days" when calculating time of arrival for your dolls. We will provide you with UPS tracking #s within 2 business days (M - F) of your shipment.

International customers, we highly recommend USPS Express and USPS Airmail / Insured delivery at this time of year.   We are hearing from our overseas customers that USPS Surface Deliveries are taking longer to arrive than usual (10 weeks + to some countries such as Australia and Germany) and we believe arrival before Christmas is NOT likely via this method. As such, we will not be offering USPS Surface delivery anymore except by special request.

Hi!  On 10/21, we posted about additional 1 - 2 week delays for October / November dolls.  Since that timeframe there have been some additional delays in containers arriving at Charisma Brands.  Dolls that were supposed to be arriving at Charisma on Friday, October 22nd (originally estimated for October 11th) have been revised to be in on Tuesday afternoon, October 26th.  Assuming this still holds true, shipments to retailers will likely take place on Wednesday the 27th and we should receive the following dolls at Count Your Beans on Monday, November 1st or Tuesday, November 2nd.

After we hear that your dolls have physically shipped, we will send you an email and if applicable, a PayPal invoice for your balance due.  Please note that Christmas Cookie, Clara Tiny Tot & Cherry Vanilla are arriving at Charisma Brands in split shipments "approximately" 1 week apart. 

We will not know how many dolls of our initial order will be allocated to us for the first shipment and how many dolls will be allocated to the second until after our order is on the way.   As such, some pre-orders for Christmas Cookie, Clara Tiny Tot & Cherry Vanilla will probably not be able to be filled until the second shipment arrives to Charisma Brands and is turned around to us.  At this point, that approximation will most likely be Tuesday, November 2nd to Charisma and approximately November 8th or 9th to Count Your Beans.  Tracy at Charisma Brands said it is possible this shipment may come in on October 29th but we speculate that since the October 11th shipment that was pushed back to the 22nd isn't arriving until the 26th, that the shipment pushed back to the 29th might not come until November 2nd.  

So that being said, we sincerely appreciate your patience, your business and your support!   We will do our best to turn around dolls to you as quickly as we can after receipt.  The GOOD NEWS is that all of these dolls as well as ones expected a few weeks later will still arrive in plenty of time for Christmas.  Most will hopefully arrive by Thanksgiving.   Please note we wil be closed for shipping from Monday, November 22nd - Friday, November 26th (Thanksgiving week) but will resume shipping again on Monday, November 29th.

We spoke today with Tracy at Charisma Brands who told us that shipments of October dolls to Charisma Brands are now running 1 - 2 weeks behind the estimates originally given on 9/30 (see post below).   This is mainly due to the extra time it is taking containers to get approved through customs, something which is beyond the control of the manufacturer and beyond our control as well.

We know everyone is excited to get their dolls and will be happy to turn them around to you as quickly as we can.   That being said, please note that all the ETA dates we post on this page and our website are "estimated" times of arrival and not firm.  They are subject to change so please plan accordingly. We do appreciate your understanding and support when items are delayed.  We try to pass along the most current information available but as it does change regularly, please check back often!

Here are revised ETAs based on the 1 - 2 week delay time estimate.  (Dolls may or may not catch-up to each other shipments.  When in doubt, we say to estimate later rather than earlier and then if they do come in early, it's a welcome surprise and not a disappointment if they're late a few weeks.)

CYB Comments: Let It Snow is a QVC Key Launches and have a 6 week key launch exclusive before retailers are supposed to be shipped their dolls. We have not heard yet whether the 6 weeks start from Marie Osmond's QVC show date of October 15th or whether the 6 weeks starts from when they first arrive at Charisma Brands.   In the worst case scenario, we would anticipate that the dolls would arrive at the end of November, first part of December timeframe which would still leave plenty of time for holiday delivery and enjoyment.

Hello Marie Osmond Doll Friends!   It has been one heck of a crazy weekend but we are thankful for it and appreciate all your questions, orders and support!  New orders that came in over the weekend for in-stock merchandise will be shipped Monday the 18th and Tuesday the 19th.  We love you all but please remember it's just the two of us and we are doing our best to answer all emails in the order received.  At this busy time, please allow 24 - 48 hours for a response and we'll try to get to you more quickly!  We will be spending most of Monday and Tuesday offline packing boxes and doing shipping.

Please note that we will get all the Adora Belle Halloween Kitties that paid over the weekend out on Monday to give you the best shot and enjoying her for Halloween!  (Yes, we still do have a few extras if you know someone who is looking for this darling doll!)

We watched Marie Osmond on QVC both Friday and Saturday and thought she looked lovely as usual!  We are happy to match QVC prices on the special values they offered, however please note that our Count Your Beans prices with Bonus Beans are often the BETTER Deal as you can save, earn and convert Bonus Beans into Nice Store Credits!  (If you're confused about how Bonus Beans or credits work, just click the link to the left and or visit our Bonus Beans FAQ Page.)

If you are saving up Bonus Beans to turn into larger store credits, taking the higher price in the short term but getting a nice store credit in the longer term is almost always your best value, especially if you are buying 2 or more toddler size dolls from us per show.  Now if you are doing business with us for the first time or you are buying 1 doll and don't know when you'll be buying he next, then the Scratch & Win Discount or the QVC Price Match might be a better option for you.

ETA updates! As you may have read if you've been following this page, some of the October dolls have been delayed a bit to the manufacturer and in turn to the retailers. This is primarily a customs issue and is beyond the control of the manufacturer so your patience and kindness is appreciated.   Right now, the ETAs that were given on 9/30 are about a week behind.  I will post new ETAs on Tuesday, October 19th after we get a chance to talk with our Charisma Sales Rep and get caught up with shipping and emails.

Sell-outs but coming back:  We are currently sold out of our first run of Hershey's Kisses, Chenille and Holly Babies A Bloom, thanks!  We do have more on order but and expect them to arrive in late October, early November. (update 10/18)  We do recommend if you want one of these dolls that you place a deposit as orders will be filled in the order received.  If it turns out the dolls are sold out and won't be coming back in this year, we can refund your deposit or transfer it to another doll.

Selling Quickly:  Olive May Loving Tribute - We were assured we would get all the dolls we ordered.  We ordered quite a few of these and do still have some left but they are quite popular and we expected the first shipment to Charisma to be allocated to retailers.  As we were told this doll will be coming in two shipments and we do not know how many of our order will be in each shipment, we are asking everyone to "assume" that they will get a doll in the 2nd shipment.  The dolls are estimated to arrive a week apart somewhere between the end of October to middle of November.

Daisy is selling quickly too.  We have added a 2nd order but need to check to see if the ETA for this 2nd order will be the same as our first which at this point is probably, late October, early November.

Collectors please note that as of 10/11, Adora Belle Halloween Kitty had NOT yet arrived at Charisma Brands.   As soon as she does and as soon as she arrives to us, we will be turning her around the next business day. Thank you for your patience and understanding.  Apparently what is happening is that a lot of the containers are being held up at the shipyards and are taking awhile to get through security.  This is not a problem that is just happening with Charisma, it's happening with a lot of very large companies too.  We will post further updates as we have them.

The Marie Osmond 2004 Gift for Collectors has arrived!  We will be including 1 copy of Marie Osmond's new "Moments To Remember" Collectors' Edition 1 2004 CD with every Marie Osmond purchase shipping from Count Your Beans starting 10/11/04.  We won't give away the goodies on the CD but it includes many of Marie's favorite excerpts from her Marie and Friends Radio Show.

In the past 2 years, when the gift was an ornament or a pin, we would give one ornament or pin per doll.  As a CD is something that a collector would generally just need one of and as supplies are limited, we have decided to include one 1 CD per customer unless we receive requests asking otherwise.  If you have purchased multiple October / November dolls from us and you would like an additional CD sent with your order, please let us know and we will of course accommodate you! (We're using the extra CDs to give to collectors purchasing older dolls from us in auction or through our website.  Our goal is for each of our Marie Osmond customers who receives a doll shipment from us sent 10/11 or later to receive a copy of this fun CD.

We have added a picture and preliminary online ordering information for the 12th Coming Up Roses Series Doll.  Her picture was accidentally released by Charisma Brands last week and as a number of people passed it around, they decided to make the picture release official.  We haven't gotten any other official specific details about the doll yet other than she will be sculpted by Emily Garthwright (Young Love sculptor), she is seated and she is a representation of Marie Osmond in her earlier years. We believe the bench in the photo will also be included and the estimated price point is around $180.00.  We will be offering Free UPS Grd/Ins S/H & Bonus Beans and for those who would like to use a Scratch & Win Card for this doll, we're happy to accept it.

On 9/30/04 we posted important ETA updates for the October/November Releases.  We updated this information on October 4th.

We learned on Thursday, October 7th that the ETA dates that we were given and that we passed along to you are now approximately 1 week behind due to the current rate that Charisma is receiving product into their warehouse.  This may change but our Sales Rep wanted to pass this along.  So for example, if you see below that a doll is expected at Count Your Beans on 10/8, now it will be expected at Count Your Beans around 10/15.

Because there are so many changes to these ETAs, we've decided to create a new page on our website JUST for Incoming Stock Updates and changes.  We hope to have this page up by 10/15/04 and will include a link to it here.

** NEW SPECIALS have been added to our Alphabetical Pages for October! **

On 9/30/04 we posted important ETA updates for the October/November releases. On October 1st we received additional information indicating that some of the dolls such as Olive May Loving Tribute, Breathtaking In Blue, Santa Bloomers, Clara Tiny Tot, Boyz N Berry Fruit Cup Tiny Tot and Cherry Vanilla and perhaps others will be arriving at Charisma Brands in split shipments.  I have updated our 9/30 posting below to include the 2nd shipments for the dolls mentioned above.

What this means basically is that retailers who placed larger orders such as Count Your Beans may get a portion of their order in the first shipment and the balance of their order in a subsequent shipment. Although we placed our order for your dolls very early on in the ordering process, sometimes this type of allocation is chosen by the manufacturer so that each retailer has a chance to get at least a few dolls in each style.  Unfortunately we cannot control what percentage of our order will ship to us during our first shipments but as soon as we know, we'll be happy to post and let customers know if their doll is expected in the first or second shipment. (Please note that until we know how many dolls they are sending us for our first shipment, we have no way of making this prediction.)  

We have now added a picture of Olive May Loving Tribute.   This very special doll is available for pre-order.  Two shipments of this doll are expected to arrive at Charisma Brands.  (The picture below does now click to a larger picture - updated 10/9/04)

Please note as always that ETAs are still subject to change and that many factors come into play which can impact arrival date (manufacturer receipt, allocation, turnaround time, carrier shipping)   but we wanted to pass along the most current information we have!

CYB Comments: Tracy, Sales Director at Charisma Brands (and our super Sales Rep) said that she wouldn't be surprised if Starry Starry Night came in a bit earlier, perhaps as early as Friday, October 29th or Monday, November 1st.  Of course all the ETAs are subject to change but she thought this one was more likely than others.

ETA to Charisma Brands in October but released to Retailers in November (no further ETA yet): Adora Beary Bitty Ballerina (Initial JCPenney exclusive, arriving at Charisma Brands 10/8 but will probably ship 6 weeks later) - Adora Belle Poodle aka Adora Belles & Whistles Poodle (Initial JCPenney exclusive) - Chenille (QVC 6 week key launch exclusive, arriving at Charisma Brands 10/8 but will probably ship 6 weeks later) - Let It Snow (QVC 6 week key launch exclusive - arriving at Charisma Brands around 10/15 but will probably ship 6 weeks later)

CYB Comments: Both Chenille and Let It Snow are QVC Key Launches and have a 6 week key launch exclusive before retailers are supposed to be shipped their dolls. We have not heard yet whether the 6 weeks start from Marie Osmond's QVC show date of October 15th or whether the 6 weeks starts from when they first arrive at Charisma Brands.   In the worst case scenario, we would anticipate that the dolls would arrive at the end of November, first part of December timeframe which would still leave plenty of time for holiday delivery and enjoyment.

Please note that Baby Marie Picture Day Tiny Tot was originally supposed to be a QVC Key Launch also but that has been cancelled and this doll is scheduled to arrive to us early next week!

** A special surprise doll is being added as an October Release with expected arrival to retailers in mid to late October.  Marie Osmond lovingly presents Olive May "Loving Tribute". Her edition has been set at 4,800, she is 13" seated, and has a suggested retail of $169.00. She was supposed to be an exclusive piece for QVC, during the October show. After several meetings and consideration, Charisma Brands was happy to say that they will have her available for retail in limited supply.

She has dark hair and dark eyes and is dressed in a beautiful dress in gorgeous shades of purple (lavender, berry, maybe a little pink too) with lots of floral accents. We've seen a picture which unfortunately we're not yet authorized to release but we think the doll is really wonderful and are sure collectors will be impressed!  We love the bright colors of the dress.  We love the sentiment and tribute.  We wouldn't be surprised if there was only one run of this doll because of its anticipated popularity.  As such, we HIGHLY recommend pre-orders as we expect this doll to sell incredibly fast.   We are going to try and order quite a few. We are not sure yet if retailers will have a limit / allocation but we wouldn't be surprised.  We will post more updates as soon as we have them.  We have added this doll to our M - Q pre-order page.  As far as ETA goes, we are hoping the dolls will arrive around the same time as the other October Releases. 

Please remember that Charisma Brands did recently announce that the retailer supply of most of the large October dolls will not be arriving at Charisma Brands until the middle of October and retailers may not receive them until the latter part of October.  We really respect all our collectors and know you're excited to receive these beauties!

** In speaking yesterday with Tracy at Charisma Brands, she said that the first 2005 QVC show will be in February and not January as initially thought.  She said that doll descriptions for these first releases of the year, including the 12th Rose doll will not be officially released until October.

updated 9/21/04 - LOTS OF NEW NEWS from 9/20 onward!

Rumor has it that the January / February 2004 doll descriptions and names are almost ready to be released to retailers.   One doll we know of for sure is the very special 12th Coming Up Roses Doll.   This doll is the last in the Coming Up Roses Series. We have heard that it is a based on a sculpt of Marie Osmond done by Emily Garthwright and that the doll will be wearing lavender, Marie's favorite color.  We're suspecting that it may be a standing doll since Young Love Rose, a DOTY Award winner and Emily's last sculpt for Marie was also a standing rose doll.  We'll of course share all the details as soon as we have anything official!

John spoke with our rep at Charisma Brands on Monday, September 20th to see if we could find out a better ETA for the upcoming October dolls.  A few of the October 2004 Releases are expected at Charisma Brands near the end of September, including Boys Will Be Boys / Girls Will Be Girls Winter & Ena Tiny Tot & Victorian Christmas Bunny Love & one other that she wasn't sure of yet. 

The next doll expected in to Charisma Brands around the first week of October is the Adora Belle Halloween Porcelain Kitty.  We were guaranteed our second shipment and do still have stock available of this very popular LE 750 doll.  As soon as Charisma ships this doll to us, we will turn around and ship her to you.  When we hear she is on the way, we will start sending invoices and emails so that you have a chance to enjoy her before Halloween.

Regarding the rest of the October Dolls, our Rep thought that MOST of the October dolls for retailer release will not be arriving to Charisma Brands until around the 2nd or 3rd week of October. If this is the case, then this would mean that retailers would probably NOT have the dolls in stock in time for Marie's QVC show on October 15th, however they would receive them relatively shortly thereafter.  Shipping of these dolls to collectors would probably be in the latter part of October, early part of November, depending on how dolls are allocated and if they come in multiple shipments as the August dolls did.  We will offer QVC Price Matching Options with any applicable October dolls.

We have added a picture today from Charisma Brands of Holly Babies A Bloom. She was previously being introduced as Santa Bloomers. We've received lots of emails from collectors saying they're buying this for their daughters, nieces and granddaughters.  Her clothes are interchangeable with Daisy and Blossom, the first 2 dolls in the Babies A Bloom new series!  We are still offering introductory pricing with a promotional coupon for a limited time!

We have tentatively heard word that the following QVC Key Launch dolls from August are soon going to be starting to ship to retailers:  Adora Belle Holiday 2004 - We Wish You A Merry Christmas - Stacey Strawberry Tiny Tot -- We still have stock of each available if you haven't yet pre-ordered!

This is great news because originally we were told mid-September, then we were told early October and now it looks like it's back to somewhere between mid and late September!  If all is as planned, our shipment should hopefully be arriving by the end of next week (September 24th).   We will confirm with our Charisma Rep on Monday and once we hear the dolls have physically shipped, we'll start contacting and invoicing those who pre-ordered these 3 dolls.

We should also be getting another shipment of Nuts About You within the next 7 - 10 days.

We have terrific news regarding Adora Belle Halloween Kitty (Porcelain doll due in late this month, early next month)!   In addition to our initial guaranteed allocation, we were told today by Charisma Brands that we are now GUARANTEED our second order as well.  This means that EVERYONE who is on the waiting list as of today should be guaranteed a doll.   We realize we sent a couple dozen of our friends and collectors to other shops once the original waiting list started to grow so if you are one of those collectors and haven't yet been assured a guaranteed doll, please feel free to place a deposit today as we should now have some spares as well.

If we sell out of our second order, we will then start another wait list. But again, as of 9/8/04, everyone who signed up on the original waiting list (started after 8/16) is guaranteed a doll if they still want one.  We will assume everyone on the list still wants one but if you were on the original waiting list and found one elsewhere in the meantime, please let us know at countyourbeans@aol.com so that we adjust our list. We will also be emailing waiting list customers within the next 72 hours just to confirm your interest.  Thanks!

It's Doll ETA update time!    As many of you know, August Release dolls are arriving at Charisma Brands in droves and they're getting them out to retailers as quickly as they can.   Unfortunately not every retailer can receive their dolls on the same day as there are only so many employees at Charisma to do the shipping!  Once Charisma ships, it generally takes about 3 - 4 business days to get product to us, sometimes less if those hard-working Fed-Ex or UPS guys are ahead of schedule!

We had been told last week that the first supply of dolls were going to ship on the 12th and 13th so to be honest, we were hoping to have dollies for you by now. In a conversation that John had with Charisma Brands today, unfortunately none of our August dolls have yet shipped as Charisma has been quite busy with containers coming in! We had a rather large order with Charisma Brands so we believe they shipped out some of the smaller orders first.  Although we're just as excited as you are to get these dollies, we will patiently wait our turn and will update you as soon as our first shipment arrives!  Your dollies are soon to be coming and we think they'll definitely be worth the wait!  The good news is that the Fall 2004 catalog main supply we ordered is in so those who haven't gotten one will have one ship for free with their August orders.  Those who emailed in advance to request a free catalog when it came in will have your catalog go out by the end of the week.

Please note when you see "split shipment" that means that we are receiving a partial supply of our initial order.  When split shipments are received, we fill orders first by looking at the dates that each customer has ordered their doll and placed their initial deposit.   After we find out how many actual dolls of each style we have physically gotten in, we will contact everyone on our pre-order list to let them know if their doll is in the first shipment or will be in the second shipment.  Please note that even with a split shipment, we are anticipating that MOST of our pre-orders will be able to be filled with this first shipment. ETA dates for the 2nd shipment are still to be determined.

Orders that have already been requested to be on layaway will automatically be in the 2nd shipment unless you have indicated to us otherwise that you wanted to pay off your layaway early.

As we've received some very common questions many times in the past few months related to shipping/allocation, I thought I'd post the questions and answers here so that everyone could see:

Why is it that some retailers  & some California retailers receive their dolls faster than others?   Does Charisma have a Priority Ship program?

There are many reasons why one retailer may receive a doll faster than another.  One reason is obviously geographic location.  Since Charisma Brands is located in Southern California, retailers in Southern CA are likely to receive their dolls 1 - 2 business days after shipping whereas shops in Northern CA such as Count Your Beans may receive dolls 2 - 4 business days after shipping.  Shops on the East Coast may have their dolls take up to 8 calendar days to arrive from the time of shipping. 

As far as Count Your Beans shipments are concerned, we are across the street from a business district but we are zoned in a residential district. Although we're in a city of over 1 million, that tiny hop across the street sometimes means an extra day ship time. Therefore, shipments from Charisma usually arrive at Count Your Beans in 3 business days.  As Saturday and Sunday don't count, dolls that are shipped from Charisma on a Thursday may arrive at a Southern California shop on a Friday but at a Northern California shop on a Tuesday or even Wednesday.  In the big scope of things, a few days wait doesn't usually matter much to most customers but when one is excited about getting a new dolly, we understand everyone would like her as soon as possible!  As such, once we get the dolls in, we do our best to turn them back around as soon as we can, usually within 2 business days after payment receipt.

Larger retailers such as Count Your Beans often do have a "Priority Ship" status with Charisma Brands.   This means that we're one of the first shops to have our orders processed but as Charisma Brands has quite a few customers and not everyone can be first, we've noticed that "first shipment" tends to rotate among the shops.  This helps even the playing field.  The date that a retailer places an initial order will also have a big effect as well.  For example if we ordered 25 Happy Dolly dolls on 2/9 to ship in August and then pre-sold all of those and ordered another 25 more on 6/15 for August delivery, our second 25 might not ship with the first grouping.  Whether that second 25 arrives in Charisma's first or second allocation depends on how many dolls they have coming in, how many they've presold and how many are already allocated.

What does allocation mean?  How does Charisma Brands allocate?

In layman's terms, allocation means to distribute according to a plan or to set apart and designate for a specific purpose. 

In relation to Marie Osmond dolls, allocation comes into play during different occasions.  For example, if there is a specific doll that is extremely popular but has a limited edition size (i.e. 750), in order to be fair to all retailers, each retailer will have the opportunity to order and receive an allocation of a minimum or maximum # of dolls.  Sometimes that maximum number is pre-determined, such as is the case with Starry Starry Night which is coming out in October and is limited to 750 pieces and 11 retailers. (Retailers have been guaranteed a set # of dolls if they want them and any left over will be allocated toward those on a waiting list.)

More typically though, allocation takes place when dolls arrive at Charisma Brands in split shipments. For example, say 300 "Happy Dolly" dolls arrive at Charisma Brands in their first shipment and 800 are due three weeks later.  All 1100 of their dolls are pre-sold.   Who gets the first 300?

(Method A) Well, in order to be fair and give every retailer a chance to get some of this hot new doll, Charisma may just ship a few "Happy Dolly" dolls out in their first shipment to each shop based on a percentage allocation system.  For example, they may ship 10% of each shop's order in the first allocation and 90% in the second allocation. 

(Method B) Alternatively, they may choose to ship all the small orders first and the bigger orders second as this saves on shipping and is faster to pack. 

Is this always the case?   In our experience, no.  (Method C) Sometimes the shipments are sent out strictly on a first ordered, first served basis. This means if Shop A ordered 200 "Happy Dolls" and they were the first to order, they might get all 200 before some shops ordering later get any. 

Usually it seems that the New Release dolls and very limited edition dolls are sent out in a combination of Method A and Method B.  Occasionally C is implemented but it's usually in combination with Method A and/or B. 

Allocation is more strictly used on first runs of a new release doll and on dolls with smaller edition sizes.  Dolls that have open editions can often be ordered for later runs without allocation issues.   For dolls without restrictions, it's generally a first come, first served method.

To be honest, we've noticed over the years a number of different methods that Charisma Brands has used for allocation so our examples are not meant to serve as a guarantee of how they currently allocate or will allocate in the future.  I know the above may seem a bit confusing and we do apologize. It is confusing! Luckily, most of this usually is not an issue for most customers as the turnaround and receipt for most new dolls is fairly quick.

As a general rule, please note that when a manufacturer such as Charisma Brands gives an ETA to retailers, it usually tentative and subject to change.  Guarantees of ship dates to retailers are sometimes unrealistic due to unforseen circumstances so patience and understanding while waiting for shipments to arrive is always sincerely appreciated!  The bottom line is we appreciate your business and want to get your dolls out to you as soon as possible and if they've arrived at Count Your Beans, we will post on our website and let you know as soon as we can, usually within 48 hours of receipt.

We are almost sold out of our initial allocation of Adora Belle Halloween Kitty and have just one doll from our Charisma Brands 1st allocation left.  Only a certain number of these dolls were guaranteed in allocation to each retailer.  Dolls ordered above and beyond that allocation magic number are all on a "waiting list" at Charisma and are not guaranteed to be filled.  In other words we have extras on order but will not know if we are going to get them until late September, early October.

All orders placed up to 8/16 were part of our initial allocation but as of 8/17, deposits received will be on the waiting list for cancellations or for the extra dolls we "may" get in.  We naturally hope to fill all orders but this doll has been EXTREMELY popular and has pre-sold very quickly.  THANKS!

We had a wonderful time during our meeting with Charisma Brands, Marie Osmond and Brian Blosil in Disneyland during July 23rd through July 25th. It was a real pleasure having the opportunity to meet the Charisma A-Team and we will be creating a separate page to chronicle the event and introduce the Charisma Team. We will also include pictures from the awards ceremony and pictures that we have for two new dolls coming out later this fall, Daisy from the Babies-A-Bloom collection and Starry Starry Night -- a very special limited edition doll of 750 pieces that will be exclusive to all 11 retailers that were invited to the Charisma Event.  She is dressed in a beautiful turquoise-blue dress, a wonderful color for display!  We have included thumbnail pictures below.  (Click for a larger view.)

We will be out of the office from Friday, July 23rd through Sunday, July 25th meeting with Charisma Brands, Marie Osmond and other retailers at Disneyland.  We will be back in the office on Monday, July 26th and will answer all emails and phone calls from the weekend either the 26th or the 27th.  (We'll try to get to them all on the 26th in the order received.) All website and auction orders paid from the 23rd - 25th will ship on Tuesday, July 27th. THANK YOU!  We hope to have pictures and news about our trip posted around July 30th, hopefully sooner!

Great News!  Charisma Brands sent pictures EARLY for many of the new August 2004 AND October 2004 New Releases!   We have updated all of our alphabetical pages with the pictures we have so far.   Please note that if you want to see a larger picture, all you have to do is click the small thumbnail photo!  We are SO EXCITED that we can share pictures already of so many of the October dolls and we hope this will help you with your wish lists!

The balance of our first order of Baby Miss America Tiny Tots has arrived.  Those who have paid for their pre-orders in full will have their dolls shipped on Monday, July 19th. It does not look like we will be receiving any extras but if we have any cancellations, we'll be happy to fill waiting list orders.

Please note we will be out of town from July 23th - July 26th visiting with Marie and Charisma Brands and other retailers at Disneyland. We have been told that we will be able to take pictures of August and October 2004 dolls when we meet with Charisma Brands and we are allowed to share this photos with collectors. There may also be a few dolls and surprises so we're really looking forward to the event and providing you with the scoop!  We will create a separate pictures page after we get back into town.  Please check this news page for the link!

On Friday, July 2nd, we received first shipments of the following dolls - Baby Abigail - Ants In My Pants - American Classic Rose Tiny Tot - all customers who pre-ordered these dolls will be contacted by Monday, July 5th.  We also have spares available for order through our website.

We also have now received all the dolls listed in our 6/28/04 update. All alphabetical pages have been updated and we have listed many NEW Summer Specials! In rechecking inventory for the end of last quarter, we also found a couple Young Love Rose dolls.  When they're sold, we won't be getting more, so if interested, please don't miss out!  Yellow Rose of Texas is back in as well!

The October 2004 dolls will be announced by Charisma Brands sometime next week and we hope to have the list on our site shortly thereafter for pre-order! We will try to get pictures of all the dolls we can when we visit with Marie and Charisma Brands in a few weeks at Disneyland.

** BABY MISS AMERICA TINY TOT note ** If you are interested in Baby Miss America Tiny Tot and ordered after May 6th, we recommend at this time to try getting her from another retailer if you want to guarantee yourself a doll.  Naturally we'd love to fill your order but the important thing is that you are able to get this lovely doll. We are happy to hold your deposit and refund it if you purchase her elsewhere or we can transfer her to a different doll if you prefer.  We are scheduled in our first shipment to receive less than 1/2 of our initial sold out 1st order.  Per our sales rep at Charisma Brands, we hope to receive the last part of this 1st order in a few weeks. Our 2nd order (waiting list order) may not be filled completely or even partially as this doll is sold out at Charisma Brands and they are currently using an allocation method to ensure that each retailer gets at least some dolls.

Baby Abigail has NOT yet shipped to Count Your Beans as of 6/25.  We heard from a couple customers that a couple So. CA shops had received her so we will be checking again on 6/28 to see when she will be on the way.  Please note that with the end of the quarter, Charisma Brands is very busy shipping dolls to many retailers and they use an allocation method to make sure that each retailer gets an opportunity to receive new dolls.  Hope this information helps!  We will update this page as soon as we have more information.

We are very sorry to say that there were inventory and quality control issues with our allocation of Marie Osmond Susie Q dolls.  We had hoped to get replacements from Charisma Brands but we have been informed they are sold out and we don't believe we will be able to get any more.  We are happy to refund any payments in full and/or transfer payments or deposits to other dolls.  We deeply regret not having more information for you sooner and we hope that those of you still looking for this doll will be able to find her.  Thanks for your understanding!
